Slow Cooker Spaghetti Bolognese

Sometimes nothing is quite as comforting as a bowl of spaghetti with rich homemade Bolognese sauce. Put together this slow cooker spaghetti bolognese in the morning and have the best welcome home! Topped with generous shavings of parmesan cheese.

Slow Cooked Spaghetti


Extra virgin olive oil
900g minced beef
1 large white onion, finely chopped
3 cloves of garlic, crushed
1 carrot, grated
2 sticks of celery, chopped
400g tin chopped tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato purée
2 tsp dried oregano
2 sprigs of fresh rosemary
2 fresh bay leaves
200ml red wine
100ml full-fat milk
300ml beef stock, hot
Spaghetti (around 80g per person)
Grated parmesan cheese



  1. In a frying pan, fry the onions in a small amount of oil until soft, along with the garlic, carrot and celery. Add the minced beef and cook until browned
  2. Add the mince, onion, carrot and celery to the bowl of the slow cooker along with all the other ingredients bar the spaghetti and parmesan cheese
  3. Place the lid on the slow cooker and set on high to cook for 6 hours
  4. Serve the Bolognese with generous portions of spaghetti and top with lashings of grated parmesan
