When our team first sat down together to discuss how we could do more good in the community, we were all adamant that we wouldn’t be a company that just writes a cheque then forgets about it.
We wanted to get involved and make a meaningful difference to the charities we help. However, a lot of the time, money is exactly what charities need.
Every day the Booth Centre serves up over 160 meals to vulnerable adults and those facing homelessness. The charity dishes up a hot breakfast and lunch to over 220 people per week. As you can imagine, these costs quickly add up.
Local restaurants, organisations and supermarkets regularly donate food to the centre but essentials – like tea and coffee – are mostly bought by the charity. Often, the centre is missing those crucial ingredients that will transform a food donation into a meal.
That’s why we’ve decided to cover those costs. Our £400 a month donation will pay for all the essentials as well as help the kitchen team, led by the talented Valentino, buy more fresh fruit and vegetables. This way, the charity will have more financial freedom to put together more nutritious meals, and allow the Booth Centre to spend their much-needed budget elsewhere.
