Homemade Sticky Toffee Popcorn

You might have been burnt before by microwave popcorn but if you want a homemade treat that really pops, try making a batch in a VonShef Popcorn Maker. Ready in minutes these ooey, gooey sticky kernels are perfectly popped.

 Homemade Sticky Toffee Popcorn

Ingredients

100g popping corn
40g soft brown sugar
4 tbsp golden syrup
30g unsalted butter
1 tsp water

Method

  1. Prepare the toffee coating: add the butter, syrup, sugar and water to a saucepan over a medium-high heat
  2. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon until the butter has melted and sugar dissolved
  3. Bring to the boil and let it bubble rapidly for 4-5 minutes, stirring throughout, until the mixture is a dark, toffee colour
  4. Put the kernels into the popcorn maker using the measuring cup and switch on
  5. Once you start to hear the kernels popping, either use the measuring cup to pour the toffee coating into the popcorn maker, or wait until the corn is popped and cover the toffee mixture on top
