Christmas Cookies with Chocolate Sauce

Be the star of the show with this easy, buttery cookie recipe. Cute, crumbly and covered in chocolate – get into the festive spirit and tuck in whilst watching your favourite Christmas film or wrap them up and give them out as tasty take-away party treats.

Christmas Cookies


125g butter
55g caster sugar, plus a little extra for sprinkling
180g plain flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate sauce, for drizzling

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C/ 375°F/ Gas Mark 5
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and caster sugar together until smooth
  3. Sift in the flour, add vanilla extract and stir into a smooth paste
  4. Transfer to a lightly floured work surface and use a rolling pin to roll out to 1cm thick
  5. Cut into stars using a cookie cutter and place on a non-stick baking tray. Re-roll the trimmings to use up all the dough
  6. Sprinkle with a little caster sugar and put in the fridge to chill for 20 minutes
  7. Bake for 15 minutes or until firm and lightly golden
  8. Transfer to a wire rack to cool
  9. Drizzle with chocolate sauce and decorate
